Canyon Country Nature Guide
Although the natural quiet of the high desert often creates the impression of lifelessness, many animals live here.
Seasons and weather play a large role in determining when animals are active. Many are nocturnal, coming out only at night when the temperatures are cooler. Lizards, rabbits, deer and ravens are most often seen. Sometimes, sharp-eyed visitors catch a glimpse of a desert bighorn sheep.
If you do see wildlife, give them space and resist the urge to get closer as this may cause them stress. Please don’t feed or disturb animals. Remember that this area is their home.
